Kisseman Children's Foundation Egg Hunt raises $10,000

May 07, 2017

The third annual Kisseman Children's Foundation Egg Hunt was a hoppin' success, raising $10,000

The Kisseman Children’s Foundation held the 3rd annual Egg Hunt fundraising event on April 15, 2017 at Saint James School. The event which hosted over 200 local families raised $10,000. The funds raised will support KCF's educational initiates including scholarships for children in need, and the KCF Community Center building fund.

The Egg Hunt has become a tradition for local families. The fun-filled event includes kid-friendly activities and the egg’citing hunt featuring over 4,000 eggs.

Highlights from the event include the handmade Bolga baskets from Ghana which participants receive to collect their eggs, as well as a card making station ran by SJS alumni/parent Susan Itell, where children can design cards and write messages to children in Ghana.

The Egg Hunt’s mission is to raise funding for children’s education in Ghana, while promoting global understanding by connecting kids around the world. The event enables our children to experience and learn about the world around them. As they move around the event’s EGGtivity stations they interact with images of the children in Ghana who benefit from the event. Whether they are coloring the world map mural for the KCF office, or participating in sack races with Ghanaian cocoa sacks, the event brings a little bit of Ghana to life for our children.

Saint James School student volunteers, many of which are from Ghana, serve as an integral part of the Egg Hunt experience.  From stuffing eggs, to running crafts, games, face painting, and serving as the Easter bunny himself, The Saint James School student volunteers proved the event to be more than your average egg hunt, promoting the power of service among young people.

Education is a distant dream for many Ghanaian children who cannot afford the expenses to attend school. The Kisseman Children's Foundation is transforming the lives of children in Kisseman Village by providing scholarships to attend local schools, as well as providing the supplies and lessons to help them succeed in their educational journey. The Egg Hunt has served as the organizations largest annual fundraising event. Thanks to the success of the event The Kisseman Children’s Foundation has been able to provide 22 scholarships to date for out-of-school children.
